2008 RMEL Foundation Scholarship Applications Now Available

The RMEL Foundation is currently accepting applications for its 2008 education scholarships. The RMEL Foundation annually offers scholarship opportunities to deserving and qualified students for the purpose of encouraging young people to pursue careers in engineering or curriculum related to the electric industry. In addition to baccalaureate degree seeking students, the Foundation accepts scholarship applications for craft or certificate programs. All scholarship applicants must be a high school senior or college undergraduate enrolled in and pursuing an undergraduate or associate degree, or an electric utility position certificate at a college with the intent to enter the electric energy industry. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen.
Another Successful Year for the RMEL Foundation Auction

The RMEL Foundation Auction, held September 10 during the 2007 Fall Convention in Tucson, AZ, set a new, all-time high for monies raised. A total of $18,147.00 was raised to provide scholarships to students entering the electrical energy industry. The RMEL Foundations purpose is exclusively for the charitable and educational purposes of awarding scholarships to deserving and qualified students in engineering or curriculum related to the utility industry.
RMEL Foundation Awards Record Number of Scholarships in 2007

The RMEL Foundation awarded a record number of scholarships in 2007. The Foundation is pleased to award $19,000 in total scholarships to 10 deserving students. The RMEL Foundation continues to carry out its purpose of awarding scholarships to deserving and qualified students studying engineering or curriculum related to the electric energy industry. After reviewing 119 applications, almost twice the number received any other year, the RMEL Foundation Scholarship Committee voted to award two craft scholarships, six baccalaureate scholarships and two RMEL Foundation Wartsila North America scholarships.

Here is your chance to help encourage students to pursue careers in the electric energy industry. The RMEL Foundation will be holding its annual Silent Auction on September 9, 2007 to raise funds for scholarships. The auction is held during the Monday evening reception at the RMEL Fall Convention. Funds raised at the silent auction have helped provide students with over 40 scholarships since it first started in March 2000.
