RMEL is holding a Safety Roundtable on Friday, November 19, at Tri-State Generation & Transmission Assn. in Westminster, CO. The Safety Roundtable begins with a short presentation, and is mainly focused on an open discussion period. Each attendee has the opportunity for participation and dialogue on their particular safety issue, and all participants will receive a continuing education certificate.
Clyde Serna, Safety Consultant, Pinnacol Assurance and Chris Schlag, Safety Consultant, Pinnacol Assurance, will begin the Safety Roundtable with their presentation, “The Next Step in Safety.” They will discuss ways to ensure health and safety programs are meeting their intended goals and steps to take utility safety programs to the next level. Employers committed to safety—and to creating a "safety culture" within their companies—see measurable returns in many areas, including lower workers' compensation costs and employee satisfaction, performance, and retention. This presentation will be most beneficial for companies that have already established a formal health and safety program and/or have achieved cost containment certification.
Immediately after the presentation, attendees will participate in an open forum to provide or request information. All attendees are encouraged to bring safety issues for discussion and materials for sharing. Safety Roundtables are an excellent opportunity for RMEL members to share challenges and hear actual experiences and hot topics focused on safety in the industry today.
The Safety Roundtable is open to all RMEL members and is recommended for those with responsibility for the development, implementation, monitoring and oversight of safety programs for electrical utilities, as well as safety consultants. There is no registration fee to attend, however an RSVP is required. All attendees completing the course will receive 1.0 Professional Development Hour.
