2010 Fall Convention
6/23/2010The RMEL Fall Convention started in October of 1903. Since that first meeting, the Fall Convention has grown and evolved into its current form – a relaxed forum for senior management of electric energy companies to gather, network and share information. The primary focus of the Convention is the educational presentations, which range from a CEO’s vision of the industry to a focused presentation on specific technology.
The Convention is a three-day event that begins on a Sunday with a golf outing followed by an evening reception hosted by RMEL Champions. Monday is a full-day of educational presentations ending with an RMEL Champions reception, dinner and the RMEL Foundation Silent Auction. The final day includes the RMEL annual meeting and a half day of presentations. A guest program, awards presentation and plenty of time to relax and network are part of the tradition at the RMEL Fall Convention.

Utility Power Factor and Harmonics Workshop
10/9/2009Power system harmonics can be produced by an individual customer or load but have a significant impact on the entire distribution line affecting many other customers. Learn how to analyze and manage power system harmonics by evaluating total harmonic distortion at the point of common coupling (PCC). See how to properly apply IEEE 519 and how the utility equivalent impedance, capacitors and system configuration can impact the total harmonic distortion (THD). Students will learn how to design a properly tuned/filtered capacitor bank. This one day class has many in class problems and examples to provide an understanding of power factor and harmonics for electric utility systems.

Safety Roundtable - November 2010
10/9/2009The Safety Roundtable is a member forum where attendees bring and discuss industry safety issues in a casual setting. Typically a single presentation on a planned topic will begin the event, followed by roundtable discussion. Although there is a short presentation, Safety Roundtables are focused on the open discussion period and provide each attendee the opportunity for participation and dialogue on their particular safety issue. All attendees are encouraged to bring safety issues for discussion and materials for sharing. The Safety Roundtable is open to all RMEL members. A complimentary lunch is provided. There is no registration fee to attend, but an RSVP is required.

2011 Spring Electric Energy Conference Planning Session
10/9/2009The entire membership is invited to help plan the 2011 RMEL Spring Electric Energy Conference. By attending the planning session, you ensure that the education program provided at the conference addresses the issues critical to your job and your company.
As part of the planning process, RMEL members are encouraged to suggest topics and speakers for the Spring Electric Energy Conference. Because this conference targets engineers, managers and operators at utilities, most presentations are technical or engineering focused; however, discussion on current issues and events are also appropriate.
