  • Brochure : 2010 Fall Convention
    6/23/2010

The RMEL Fall Convention started in October of 1903. Since that first meeting, the Fall Convention has grown and evolved into its current form – a relaxed forum for senior management of electric energy companies to gather, network and share information. The primary focus of the Convention is the educational presentations, which range from a CEO’s vision of the industry to a focused presentation on specific technology.

The Convention is a three-day event that begins on a Sunday with a golf outing followed by an evening reception hosted by RMEL Champions. Monday is a full-day of educational presentations ending with an RMEL Champions reception, dinner and the RMEL Foundation Silent Auction. The final day includes the RMEL annual meeting and a half day of presentations. A guest program, awards presentation and plenty of time to relax and network are part of the tradition at the RMEL Fall Convention.

  • Presentation : Regenerative Activated Coke Technology with No Water Consumption - White Paper
    5/25/2010

Many issues face coal fired utilities with respect to environmental demands, some based on current and future regulations and others based on local pressures. These include increasingly stringent control of criteria pollutants, anticipated federal and state requirements for mercury and HAP control, plume visibility, disposal issues and future climate change considerations.  For western utilities water use issues play an especially prominent role.

  • Presentation : Tucson Electric Power Company’s Preparation for the Electric Vehicle Project
    5/20/2010

Tucson Electric Power Company (TEP) is participating with eTec and Nissan in The EV Project , the largest deployment of electric vehicles and charge infrastructure in history. As several models of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids arrive in the next couple of years, utilities are moving quickly to prepare for the electrification of transportation. TEP is analyzing the impact to its distribution system and evaluating special time-of-use rates to benefit consumers and encourage off-peak charging. Collaboration with local government agencies, vehicle manufacturers and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) providers is essential to streamline the charging station installation process and develop a regional infrastructure plan. Set against the backdrop of smart grid technology, electric vehicles offer opportunities for charging management and vehicle-to-grid capabilities.  Presented by: Susan Gray, Superintendent, Design/Build, UniSource
