2010 Fall Convention
6/23/2010The RMEL Fall Convention started in October of 1903. Since that first meeting, the Fall Convention has grown and evolved into its current form – a relaxed forum for senior management of electric energy companies to gather, network and share information. The primary focus of the Convention is the educational presentations, which range from a CEO’s vision of the industry to a focused presentation on specific technology. The Convention is a three-day event that begins on a Sunday with a golf outing followed by an evening reception hosted by RMEL Champions. Monday is a full-day of educational presentations ending with an RMEL Champions reception, dinner and the RMEL Foundation Silent Auction. The final day includes the RMEL annual meeting and a half day of presentations. A guest program, awards presentation and plenty of time to relax and network are part of the tradition at the RMEL Fall Convention. - Electric Energy Magazine :

5/3/2010“If it’s not grounded, it’s not de-energized,” was the message of the RMEL Grounding Workshop held April 28th in Denver, CO. Claude Chapman, OSHA Certified Safety Consultant instructed more than 40 attendees in the fundamentals of grounding and why it is so important. The attendees once again had great feedback about the instructor saying they enjoyed, “the whole class – a lot of the points are ones that are easily forgotten,” and also commented that they appreciated the class being tailored to field workers. - Registration List :

4/21/2010 Utilities refer to the procedure for designing overhead electrical distribution structures as “staking.” Unlike its simple name, designing an overhead power line requires much more skill than simply driving wooden stakes into the ground to mark the locations of poles and anchors. The RMEL Distribution Line Staking Workshop was held April 14-16 in Omaha, Nebraska. The course was instructed by Richard Lovelace, Director of Field Services for Hi-Line Engineering. - Registration List :
