Who We Are
RMEL is the essential regional energy association, providing a variety of education and networking services for the electric energy industry. RMEL has served the electric utility industry since 1903. RMEL is a non-profit trade association of over 270 corporate members, dedicated to fostering a thriving community of electric energy professionals and forums where industry peers can share ideas, techniques and programs to better serve the industry and its customers.
Who We Serve
RMEL’s footprint extends from the Canadian to Mexican borders, west of the Mississippi River, excluding the west coast. RMEL’s primary service area is comprised of 17 states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.
Electric utility members are of all types of ownership including: investor owned, public power districts and agencies, rural cooperatives, municipalities, generation and transmission associations. The RMEL education audience is electric utility personnel primarily focusing on distribution, transmission and generation.
What We Do
RMEL provides continuing education and networking activities in a variety of industry areas. Smaller workshops and conferences are more management and technically oriented. The annual Fall Convention is focused on Senior Management. In addition, RMEL offers a multi-faceted array of traditional association services. These range from job listings and awards, to publications, and company promotional opportunities. All offered in the continued efforts to fulfill the organization’s mission.
Value Proposition
RMEL is committed to providing a quality product for the membership at a value price. RMEL strives to keep dues low. To accomplish both is a challenge that RMEL has met. Both registration fees and dues are low and under what are being charged in the marketplace. RMEL operates on a break-even philosophy, with all revenue, both dues and registration fees, going to pay expenses.
How We Do Business
RMEL services are driven by the needs of its members. The goal is to provide substantial value while balancing RMEL resources. Leadership continually evaluates the best methods for reaching a diverse membership in a large 17 state service territory. RMEL works diligently to understand and prioritize the vast needs of the membership. Membership suggestions are important to our success and many opportunities are provided for input. Meeting member needs, providing value and balancing resources are the hallmarks that set RMEL above the competition.
RMEL Community Values
RMEL is a unique association bringing together many different types of companies. The long-standing tradition of RMEL encourages open sharing amongst all these parties, believing that ultimately all will benefit from this sharing in a positive way. Working side by side in a cooperative manner, members band together for the common goal of bettering the industry and improving service for its customers. Over the many years, these key principles have proved successful and more importantly are tried and true methods for building strong business relationships.
