2017 RMEL Foundation Scholarship Program Overview

Introduction:

The purpose of the RMEL Foundation is to award scholarships to deserving and qualified students in engineering, business, information systems, plant, line or distribution technology, line worker or other curriculum related to the electric energy industry.

Awards:

Awards will be made in two categories:

  1. RMEL Foundation Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000-$3,000.  See the eligibility requirements below for these scholarships.
  2. RMEL Foundation Named Scholarships. These scholarships are provided by the Foundation in the name of the individual or corporate donor.


Eligibility:
The applicant must be a current high school senior, high school graduate or current full-time university/college undergraduate student. In addition, you must fulfill ONE of the following:

  1. Be pursuing or plan to pursue an electric industry position certificate or associate degree at a college (Certificate/Associate Degree) and be able to provide information about the specific program you are or will attend and the accreditation status of the institution.
  2. Be pursuing or plan to pursue an undergraduate degree with intent to pursue a career in the electric energy industry.  College undergraduates must be taking the minimum number of semester hours that the institution requires for the student to be considered full time. 
  3. Applicants must be a permanent U.S. resident.
  4. The online application must be completed in its entirety.
        

Application Options
After logging in to your account, applicants will be asked to complete one of four applications.

  1. Current High School Student*
  2. Bachelor's Degree (4-Year)
  3. Certificate/Associate Degree (2-Year)
  4. Previous RMEL Foundation Scholarship Recipient

*Current high school students planning to pursue a bachelor’s (4 year) degree. High schools students planning to enroll in a certificate/associate degree program should complete the “Certificate/Associate Degree” application.

**Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. MST on February 9, 2017.


How Recipients are Chosen:

A Selection Committee of the RMEL Foundation reviews all applications and selects the recipients. The selection criteria are:

  1. Goals and aspirations in the electric energy industry
  2. Motivation to succeed
  3. Service to community and school
  4. Academic ability
