About RMEL Education & Training

Education Mission

RMEL provides valuable education and networking opportunities through a variety of forums such as conferences, workshops and roundtables to all members, most importantly, electric utility personnel.

A variety of delivery methods are used. Education is delivered via face-to-face meetings as well as Long Distance Learning.

Education Catalog

Full information about RMEL events is available in the RMEL Education Catalog. The catalog is accessible at www.rmel.org/education/catalog.cfm.

Events

RMEL’s two major conferences are the Fall Convention and the Spring Electric Energy Conference. These are both 2.5 day conferences. The Fall Convention is for senior management, the Spring Electric Energy Conference is for technical, engineering, operations and management personnel. These two major conferences rotate among the cities and resorts in the RMEL service area.

Throughout the year RMEL provides workshops, conferences and roundtables discussing generation, transmission, distribution and other areas. These are usually from one to three days depending on the nature of the conference or training material. The audience is generally for positions above the craft level and below the senior management level. In addition to hosting conferences and workshops in Denver, CO, RMEL also holds workshops in other cities in our area.

Long Distance Learning Program

RMEL’s long distance learning program focuses on reaching out to members, providing “in your backyard” education. Conferences and workshops are offered in states throughout the RMEL service territory. RMEL Video-on-Demand allows members to watch recorded presentations in a pay-per-view format via the internet. Members can watch videos as their own schedule permits, at their own computer. The Long Distance Learning Program gives members who have difficulty traveling the opportunity to participate in RMEL events.

Networking

Networking services are considered equally important as the education event. At every RMEL education event, networking activities are included, from networking breaks to vendor announcements. For those who like to play golf, RMEL provides three golf events each year – two outings, one at the Spring Electric Energy Conference, one at the Fall Convention and one, popular, sold-out tournament in July.

Continuing Education Certificates

Continuing education certificates awarding Professional Development Hours are provided to attendees at all RMEL education events. Check the event brochure for details on the number of hours offered at each event.

Education Committee

The RMEL Education Committee meets regularly to discuss current and future education programming. The Committee reviews topics and determines programs.
